Re: MA\'OONA 1907 Alfred Mylne

Ma'oona: according to my old Lloyd's List she is a Ketch. 63ft overall x 13 ft beam, 7ft draft. Composite construction (wood planking on steel frames), built by McAlister and Son, Dumbarton, 1907. Official No 128183.

Afraid that's in 1964, so no help on her present location, but gives anybody out there a steer on what we're looking for.

Hope you find her.

Re: MA\'OONA 1907 Alfred Mylne

If anyones around at McAllisters on saturday I'll ask if the boat is still known.

The other avenue is to contact Ian Nicolson who owns Alfred Mylne Ltd. I know he is contacted by Mylne owners and those wishing to buy. He may have details.

Re: MA\'OONA 1907 Alfred Mylne

Dear Sir

My name is David Gray of Ace Marine in Fife, Scotland. We recently purchased the entire Mylne business from Ian Nicolson, with whom we are still working closely. We are currently undertaking to scan the entire archive of over 7000 drawings.

I can advise that Ma'oona is Design No 132, a 15m built to the then new International Metre class Rule in 1907. She is listed as LOA 63.00 ft LWL 50.11 ft Beam 13.30 ft Draft 7.30 ft

We have not yet come to drawing set 132, but we can dig these out and get them scanned in if you would like a copy of the drawings (chargeable). You can contact me at david@mylne.com to discuss this in more detail.

We wish you well in finding the original yacht. One aspect of the new business is to generate an up to date registry of the Mylne boats, and we would be grateful if you could keep us advised of your progress.

best regards

David Gray
