I'm looking for custom liners to be made for the twin 50 gallon grp petrol tanks, on my Levi Settimo Velo, as a solution to the problem of the ethanol in petrol eating away at the grp!

Can anyone recommend a manufacturer of custom fuel tank liners?

If I can't find anyone who can make ethanol resistant liners then I will have to completely remove the existing tanks and install new rigid - aluminium or plastic - tanks in their place.

So far I have just removed the tops of the existing tanks and taken out the baffles - picture attached.

I've used Tek Tanks before, for water tanks. I've already spoken to them about petrol tanks and ethanol is a big issue for them too, which is why they only sell custom rigid poly tanks for diesel. The only tanks they sell for petrol are the standard series c tanks.

My TEK tank was for a holding tank, so I never came across your issues. Your experience confirms my view that they are a good company, though.

Can you stand the thought/cost of having SS tanks built to fit in your old tanks? There are specialists in the old car world that do bespoke tanks, at around £500 plus.

Also (though a bit late) there is a tank lining glue sold, that seals the inside of the tank, which I used on some classic cars to good effect. You could, I suppose, rebuild your tanks with this painted on.

Yes, I was very pleased with my water tanks. Tek are a very professional outfit. I've reached a decision over the last few days to take the plunge and cut out the old ply / grp tanks, to replace them with rigid tanks, in aluminium.

The Tree Huggers have a lot to answer for .... we've ended up with ethanol in our fuel without any consideration for the corossive effect that this stuff has on fuel systems!

Seems to be the easiest way forwards. From hard experience, be VERY careful to protect the metal, (epoxy coating?) and isolate it completely from other metals and sea water. Good luck!
