mantis anchor

There is an excellent article in the March issue of Sailing Today on anchors. Mantus are sold by someone in Holland who will deliver to you in the UK and the address etc are detailed.

They do seem designed to catch spinnaker sheets - so be careful.

I bought mine direct from Texas - mainly because no stock of the required size in Holland - shipping was US$ 100 (to Greece) and the total price, for the 25lb version was US$350 delivered.
I was persuaded by noelex77 "photographs of anchors setting" @ cruiser's forum.
The oversize roll bar makes them difficult to thread through most pulpits and I'd recomment making up a template before buying any anchor - I'd also (despite its higher price) suggest looking at the Spade - imho the benchmark for all new-generation anchors.

PS I had been the happy user, for the last 14 users of a CQR, which had worn out, and persuaded me that there is less weakness in anchor types than in anchorer competence.
