I've got a leaking maneseal it was on the boat when I purchased it can't find any maintenance procedures or parts breakdown on line would anyone here have a link or is it just a matter of getting a new one it has a red tag on one jubilee clip which I've been told is for an emergency but can't quite see what it does

It compresses the seal against the shaft to stop water ingress. Only to be used in an emergency as the shaft shouldn't be turned when it's tight.
It will probably need replacing, most people on here will advise you to use a different make.
I have these on mine and one was dripping when I bought the boat, since replaced and all ok, I don't think they like sitting for a length of time as the faces seem to corrode. I haven't had any problems with regular use.

There are broadly 2 types. Face seals like you Manecraft and much better engineered ones like PSS or lip seals of which the 2 main subtypes are the Volvo/Radice one piece rubber seals and those made by Tides Marine. Which you choose depends in part on the size of shaft and stern tube and the space you have available.

If you give details of the boat and shaft size it will help narrow down the advice.
