About to buy a boat with the MAN iSea throttle controls. I am quite used to Volvo controls, but cannot find any information online on the MAN controls. For example the MAN throttle controls have 'synchro', 'trolling' and 'slip & grip'. But I dont know what those mean. Am looking how to replicate the volvo 'single lever' (control both engines with exact same revs with one lever only) and 'throttle only' (basically in neutral so you can rev engines). Anyone have any experience who can advise? Thanks

Synchro syncs the engines together, there is a limit in the offset it will bring the rpm to the same, been a few years since I looked at the manual for the MAN engine control, you can operate it as a single lever as well.
Troll is where the clutch slips to give you a lower speed with a maximum of 1000rpm, it can overheat the gearbox oil if there is no oil cooler
Slip & Grip starts out like the troll but as the rpm of the engine increases the clutch engages to give full drive.

There should be a manual available from the MAN website

This is what I can find on my HDD:

Appreciate the reply. I cannot find any manuals online - have looked for a little while now. Well some engine manuals I have but nothing relating to iSea controls. May email them. Had hoped to read in more detail but this gives me a start. Practice when out at sea I guess.

Check out the attached file.
I'm not sure it's applicable to your system, but AFAIK all MAN electronic gizmos are actually made by Rexroth...

My experience is with an MTU installation but this might help.
I guess that these levers are mostly manufactured by the same company but I might be wrong.
I believe that "trolling" etc is dependant on the features included (or not) in the gearbox.

Synchronisation on our MTU system is very different to the Volvo method.
In my case, when the boat is running (under way) and you want to synchronise, you do the following:-
Press the Sync button
Within a couple of seconds, move one of the throttle levers into neutral.
The throttle's LEDs will then show that the engines are synchronised.
So you just use the remaining lever to adjust the speed of both (synchronised) engines.
I tend to do this operation whilst the levers are in (what I call) "first position" - i.e. in gear but "ticking over".
Then accelerate the boat using the single synchronised lever.

There is another complication that you may not have thought about - switching helm positions whilst under way.
Assuming that you have a 2 station boat (upper and lower helm etc).
The process that I discovered is as follows:-
With the boat under way, go to the offline helm station.
Press the command button,
Within a couple of seconds move the throttle levers into EXACTLY the same position as they are on the active station.
In other words, if the active station is set for synchronised engines, you have to EXACTLY mimic the offline position.
I find that I have to move the offline station levers a little until the command LED indicates.

Sorry if this isn't relevant.
But it might be helpful to some people.
