Mallorca forum meet up, July, suggested logistics

Well it's definite for TCM et moi. His boat is already there, and I'm 100% certain I'll be there barring the boat sinking or me getting locked up or something. MedD is trying to get there, not sure. Nautical is trying to steal an Absolute but needs a few more days to shoot a few people and other gangster things, etc. You may wanna hold off booking flights and stuff just for a few more days till there's a bit more certainty... Excellent that MrsSv is on-lining it already though :-)

Dont worry, we'll soon persuade you that Med boating rules and wipe that Irish Sea grin off yer face. also, take a look at the "Ouch" thread for a cheap phantom 48 that you could stick in the Med /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Real shame
I've been watching this thread.

I have my Mum and Dad down in Spain at that time and they dont do boating - otherwise JW would have been dashing around the Med again - quick nip over to Mallorca - or even Majorca - I dont care. Shame - I'd really like to meet you guys.

Have fun.

Ah, shame,. would have been good if you could make it. We could have organised match-racing in WalkerBay Yam40s Hurricane, it would be like sailing lasers, identical boats, all down to driver skill :-)

Do join us if you can, if your plans change. Likewise if any other forumites are round those parts please join us. The invitation certainly isn't meant to be limited to the people mentioned in the 1st post on this thread - everyone is very welcome

(Mind you, I'm now worried I'll get a bill for blimmin matriculation tax!)

Bad move sv, mrs tcm will have booked all the berths, planes and restaurants for next 3 months just to make sure we're there on time. It's definitely definite (barring jfm getting lockd up with inv bankers as he mentions, obv a reasonable possibility i hadnt considered)

Yer ferkin jokin - MrsSV has already been onto her friendly hotel manager who has already tipped off the shops at Porto Pi & Portals /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

CNN will probably run a report of the improved economic outlook for Mallorca /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

OK - standing by for further instructions.

Re: "ouch" - er, em - ouch. Last thing we need is two boats /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Anyone got a link to that fantastic Times Square Dinghy movie?

Count us in as a definite for meet. Obviously coming from Palma, we are not bothered whether the meet is east or west coast of Majorca. If Cala d'Or is the base, we will probably moor in the marina on the nights of 13th July and 14th July. Simon's recommendation re Cala Mondrago is excellent as it's one of the most attractive anchorages on that coast. However it's relatively tight and v popular so latecomers might not squeeze in. In any case, I suggest we leave specifying an anchorage until the day before the meet as any wind with an easterly component makes many anchorages on this coast uncomfortable. Unfortunately, easterlies are quite common in the Balearics and on this coast, easterlies are also augmented by afternoon sea breezes. In addition, we have noticed recently that a few calas on this coast have been temporarily closed to allow the sea bed to recover. If the weather is marginal, however, there are a couple of very sheltered anchorages on this coast, probably the best being Porto Colom
Anybody short of a boat is welcome to join us for the day of the meet and we could accomodate a couple of peeps overnight although we do have 4 teenagers on board during this week so the boat will pong of smelly underwear and industrial quantities of Lynx deodorant
No firm plans for the days after the meet but we might do an anti clockwise lap of Majorca to arrive back in Palma for 20th July for teenagers to fly back to UK. After this date, SWMBO and I have a further 6 days on our boat and we may go across to Ibiza for a few days on the hook if anybody is interested in meeting up there

Ahem.
Right, first choice cala mondrago (K6 on the carhire map i think) and 2nd choice porto colom unless unforseen weather or imprisonment etc.

My mate Barry The Gangster (looks like ray winston) who also flits across atlantic, 8times so far, catamaran Panic Attack mite also come along.

It was 15degrees F while doing that nyc prank, no wonder nobody stopped or said anything...

Excellent. Gangsters are especially welcome; Nautical will be there

15F can't have been a problem. You had the red leather coat on ffs

"IMAGE IN MY MIND"

Group of guys in black single breasted suits with white shirts and pencil ties wearing raybans sitting on the back of jfm's boat swigging bottles of larger with the soundtrack of resevoir dogs blasting out from the speakers around the bay!

Mr Black I presume?

I can see that Barry will be 'avin a word with some of yer.

15F means the rubber duck loses its plastic qualities, cracks, and has to be jammed in a skip on Broadway in sevral pieces...

Oops and anchorage-reserving strategy.

Er just re-read Deleted User's post and he sez NOT to choose meeting spot yet. So i screwed it up there, very unusual for me...

No worry about space, i can use my anchorage-bagsying strategy of putting out lots of fake fishing-pottish used water bottles, a few tied together with weighted line the night before. Old electric drill switched to permanent and leave on foredeck for a while ("it's part of our generator!") gets rid of diehards.

No prob rafting up to me (i'll turn the drill off) and i mite even clean the fenders. I thought they weren't that bad, but last year Jfm decided he had to px his boat for a new clean one same model after being rafted up to me just a few hours, a bit pernickety i feel.

Hi clive. I'm afraid you only score a C minus for that botched attempt at thread drift. Much better would hav been to ask about someone's new boat eg jfm or ask Deleted User more about Ibiza, either of which would have proper banjaxd the thread, or posting a super-wide pic of (say) cala d'or another option.

Happy birthday for 14th tho.

Hi all.

Flights & hotel booked so we'll see you on the 14th.

We are staying in Palma from 9th - 16th which is early for us (normally August as anniversary break) but a chance to test JFM's new loo is too good miss /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Hopefully I don't (miss that is) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Oi - do we need to complete e-borders stuff for day on Braveheart /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
