Mallorca Cruise and delivery to Barcelona

I am planning to leave Soller for Barcelona early in the week beginning 14th May, when are planning ?
 
So I have sorted the PB Level 2 for this weekend, it’s actually just the one day assessment part. Then I can apply to Irish Sailing for an ICC Power. So I’ll be sorted.

I shall a few days behind you ! I arrive Palma on the 1st, lots of preparation in a new to me boat, cruise from Palma to Soller around the 10th - 11th, friends (crew) arriving 14th, then first real trip in this new to me boat to Barcelona. I hope all goes well for you, let's hope for good weather.

We always started around midday from the Roses or Estartit (about 120nm). We make about 4-5 knots depending on the wind. Typically it took us about 24-30 hours. We sail through the night which offshore with a clear sky is an experience not to be missed. We can just about make out Mallorca on the horizon as the sun comes up. Which is absolute magic. It is exactly where we expected it to be. Some how, each time this seems amazing. Every time so far we have been on a board reach going, and a close reach coming back. Coming back we do the same thing and set off close hauled and see where we hit land. Some where between Barcelona and Estartit. Such as Palemos and St Felui de Guixols which we have ended up at more than once.
 
So it’s all systems go for the trip to Mallorca. We fly out on Sunday the 8th. We will rent a car for the first two days so we can get shopping and collect some spares. We will stay around Can Pastilla for the first night or two and will probably do a few short trips in the afternoons.
we would like to do a night or two in Palma.. what’s the best marina to stay in? Ideally a good location and not a rip off. Is CNP okay or mad money?
Is there a good place to buy a generator battery, engine oil and coolant in the area?

I always used to stay at Marina Porte de Mallorca +34 971 289693. Found them friendly and not unreasonably priced - this is all relative. The only disadvantage is that it can have a small swell as it is really in the middle of the area where all the marinas are but we never had an issue. It is close to the fuel berth. The marinas in Palma are really in sort of no man’s land tbh so you will need a car. There is one rather posh looking marina on the north end of the bay near the Cathedral that is closer to the action but have no idea what that costs. Someone I am sure will know its name here.

La Lonja Charter Marina is excellent-right next to the old town and Cathedral. As the name suggests it is a charter marina so lots of charter boats based there-impossible to stay as a visitor Friday-Sunday as it is the turn around days for charter boats but outside of that they are a good option and often almost empty. If you have the Navily app you can book on there, or directly via the marina

Plenty of chandlers in Palma so you should not have trouble finding the parts you need.
PS-the marina has workshops along the quay for all the charter boats so can be a bit ‘industrial’….but this can be handy if you need tools - if you speak nicely to the guys, maybe throw them a beer or 2, they can be very helpful in my experience! Have a safe trip
