Hi

I'm about to go on a one week sailing bareboat charter in Mallorca, picking the boat in Palma. Any advice welcome esp' about suggested route, stop overs, marina charges, restraunts do's and dont's etc...

The crew being my wife and five year old daughter, so don't want to go far. I was thinking west to Puerto Andraitx and east to Porto Colom.

Info on english speaking weather forecasts for the area, frequency channel number, timings etc

Thanks for your help...

WX in English on VHF 16 then whatever they say throughtout day and usually ok. Andrax ok to anchor, no info on marina except that the outside pontoons were damaged last autumn. Loads of nice eating places on the front. Don't be to ambitious, with the time you've got and there will be plenty of company in the anchorages. Marinas expensive and time consuming with the paper work. I would go for the anchorages as per the RCC pilot, plenty of choice. A lovely laid back cruising area. Enjoy.

Lots of detailed information on my web site about places to go, things to do in Mallorca. Spend some time in Palma - it's a delightful town. Yes, it's incredibly crowded and pricy in peak season. Alcudia and Puerto Pollensa may be too far away for you, but free moorings, relatively low marina charges and quieter sandy beach are a temptation.

Your charterer will give up to date detail of wx sources etc and will leave a pilot book aboard; if he doesn't, he's very foolish.
