As the weather was poor when we last visited I did not fly the drone so as I was in Croydon for work we decided to return to Maldon and have a little fly. I was close to high water and looked a lot better for it. It was very dull and over cast however but still worth a flight. Short video below

Fascinating! Thanks for showing it.

I'm surprised by how steady the picture is from such a small 'aircraft'.
 
A few years ago I was having a dispute with a roofing contractor over lead flashing work which hadn't been done properly.

I decided to employ a surveyor and he arranged a drone survey which cost less than than £200. The surveyor didn't need to go on the roof.

The close-up pictures were very good and clearly showed the deficiencies in the contractor's work.

I sent pictures to the technical department at the Lead Flashing Association and received a written report, free of charge, detailing what needed to be done.

Faced with this evidence, attached to a 'letter before action', the contractor had no choice but to redo the work properly.

Full marks for the drone!

Yes Drones can do amazing things and are also incredibly safe. Most people I meet while flying are very interested. Some people I think the few seem to get upset by them for some reason

To forestall possible complaints from people living near me, I sent them letters telling them that the drone was to be used, and for what purpose. Nobody objected.
 
Wow, that's quite an impressive drone. How big is it? I'm impressed with how focussed the whole shot is, even when the horizon is way down past Marconi.

I first sailed to Maldon in Easter 1988.... It was the start of a huge adventure for me.... Left my job, sold my house, left my girlfriend and bought a semi-rotten little Hilyard and sailed her round from Hayling Island. I got a temporary summer job with the council driving the narrow gauge train up-and-down the prom extension while I got the boat ready for disappearing over the horizon. It was great fun though my pals who were working in the prom amusements managed to meet more girls (a toy train driver clearly wasn't overly attractive to the fairer sex). It's all long gone sadly, almost as if Dr Beeching paid a second visit to Maldon (he'd already done for both the town's stations in the 60s).
 
That Particular Drone was a DJI Mavic Air 2 weight is just over a pound. I also do a lot of my filming with a DJI Mini 2 weight of that one is 249 g. Very small and very light
