The webing is usually the flat tube stuff I think, the last ones I had made for a saily boat were done for us by a sailmaker.

Old car seat belts sew together by your mum not really good enuff IMHO.

I'd be tempted to use tape knots at either end and sew down the loose ends. That way you're nor relying on the stiching for strength but just for security of the knot as well as neatness.

I bought some that were made up by Jimmy Green. It's been suggested on here before that you can sew the ends yourself but having seen the strength and quality of a properly sewn end, I wouldn't trust a diy job. Have a look at climbers knots designed for flat webbing. Not quite as pretty but certainly stronger than a poorly sewn end.

its not,its an overhand knot, the tape is fed through the thingie and then carefully followed round. <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.climbing.ie/knots.html>Tape knots</A>
