I've made a GRP casting of the base of my new electric outboard with foam on the inside, I want to build a box around it to stop the base of the outboard from slipping around in the locker. The casting measures 44cm x 16cm x 24 cm (LxWxH):

First step is a lid with a suitable cut-out, then sides and a base. I was thinking of using 3mm MDF, with a resin coating.

Any thoughts?

Have you considered say 4mm HDPE sheet, will never rot or weaken, easy to wipe down and no ongoing maitainance.
