Making an Instrument Pod

Almost all of the items in the links seem to look like ex taxi roof signs, of far to flimsy, or just bleeding ugly.

I also notice that few if any would stand up to a tropical sun with little of no insulation, not good for condensate either.

I also suspect many would not survive someone falling or even stepping on one.

Having made quite a few over the years, my choice would be a foam core, can be made in any shape or size, any curves or even compound curves, no mould required, very good insulation and easy to build, and did I mention they last a lifetime, and yes you can stand on them as well.

Good luck and fair winds to all. :)

I made one using 6 thk WBP ply using double thickness in places. Used body filler to glue it all together and coat all the surfaces as its easy to sand down. i then painted it with several coats of 2 part PU paint. looks great and has lasted 6 years with no deterioation. Sprayed the inside with matt black car paint. Took a long time though.
