Making a Splash

Guiltily I attended the Moody Owners assoc equivalent at Bradwell Quay last night - also good food and a v interesting talk from TillerGirl of this parish who had only flown in from parts foreign that morning. Top stamina Roger.
 
suspect I am reading the between the lines and detecting a little mickey taking...

Thanks to Nurse Goldfish for looking after me so well after my unplanned dip. I have a stupendous bruise in an unfortunate place and an unusable arm - but have survived to tell the tale!
 
yep... although 'sailed' is stretching the truth... as we had wind on the nose pretty much the whole way back to the Crouch...

We had a max of 22kts apparent, and as we had about 5 to 7kts of boat speed in varying sea state, it probably didn't go much above 15kts true....

Sea was fine... nothing more than a couple of feet wave height at worst, although it was a little confused in the Wallet with wind against tide.

Thanks. I enjoyed the evening. Hope I didn't go on too much? Gosh, food with taste in it. What a treat. Hadn't had that for a week. On leaving I suddenly remembered that I hadn't checked what time HW was and so did some serious driving. Beat it by about an hour fortunately. Really nice bunch of people.

(Mind you, I thought the food excellent in quality/taste, but I'll order two dinners next time as the portions were rather 'delicate' in size for this hungry (greedy?) sailor.)

We did, but then it was only down the river to Shotley! Nice and quiet that early in the morning, and lots of bird life for entertainment.
 
Hope you're ok Lisa, didn't get to talk at the dinner, sorry. I once helped a chap who'd fallen into the water at Bradwell and it was pretty chastening - I couldn't pull him up onto the pontoon at all he was so heavy with wet clothing. Had to sort of help him part way and he pulled himself out. Very sobering, not funny at all at the time.

Great to see everyone thanks again Jim. Thought RHYC did a good job and were very accommodating, esp to the two mini Sagudayites. Echo the comment that the food was tasty but portions modest, however not a bad thing at my age...

Lisa - I hope you recover quickly - it didn't look much fun swimming in late October, fully clothed!

We did sail down the wallet - 5-6kts quite close to the course we wanted - we only tacked once. And we caught up with a boat that left Shotley and was at least half an hour ahead of us at Landguard. The sea was bumpy off the Naze, but then settled down with just a handful of big waves of maybe 1.5 m max.

Bwahaha indeed. Currently sitting in doctors awaiting referral letter for bupa. Suspect torn rotator cuff.
