Paul, It doesn't matter if the geny. is in a boat, in a plane or Joe Bloggs garden shed.
Yes, it does matter. Fixed installations in boats are not the same as portable installations where no Earth can be used (which is what your link refers to).
The proper, safe, installation should be used for what ever system is applicable.
Indeed, but see above. Boats have specific requirements, as do all installations, and part of those requirements are that fixed installations must have the neutral and Earth bonded and be grounded. In fact, all new boats are required to have the AC PE grounded.
Not knocking what you have said but, also, as you have commented, blanket advice without knowing the system and set up, as is this case, is downright dangerous. I think that indeed you have already said that yourself?
I fully concur with your #17;)
Based on the last thread the OP started and post #5, we'll never know the answers.

Did you read both the links? I think there are references to various differing set ups and earthing arrangements.
Anyway I really cannot be overexcited with hypothetical situations. I would have to see the installation and make a definitive decision from that. I do however concur that the geny. should be earthed as you have described if being connected into a fixed shore power type installation. My links were meant to show that there are alternative arrangements. If you know installation ??

From sarcastic to facetious, some people do not deserve help.

Paul so why answer posters who you consider are sarcastic and facetious.

I have stopped answering any earthing posts as they always end up in a bun fight and I just do my own thing with regard to on board electrical fittings and installations
