Is that per night? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif We will be in and around Ibiza/Majorca from 11th to 26th July. It would be a good to see a few forumites for a meet?
We are out there 13th to 20th. The plan is to be in Menorca but if a get together is arranged please let me know and if we are about it would be good to catch up with people.
My dates are pasted below (just plans, could change with weather!). Some time in the 13-17 July week looks good then. We can fixit it nearer the time. TCM/Mrs TCM, will probably cathc up with you guys sooner than that though, about 4 July. When are you planning to depart Balearics?
DATES
1. Crossing Antibes-Mahon, Menorca, 27/28 June wkend
2. Berth organised in Mahon check in 28 June check out 4 July
3. 2-7 July boat full of my kids and school friends. Will travel Menorca-Palma in this period
4. Berth (not confirmed) in Palma check in 5 July check out 11 July
5. 11/12 July weekend will take boat round to Cala D'Or
6. Cala D'Or berth check in 12 July check out 17 July
7. 18/19th July, boat at Alcudia/Formentor/Pollensa, NE Mallorca, work/client on boat for lunch+afternoon on one of the days
8. Monday 20 July approx, sail back to Antibes
We'll be around there then, not going to any marinas, monetarily challenged!! But we can always anchor up and come to visit by dinghy! Also remember we are sloooooow so have to plan a day+ at least ahead if we are in Ibiza and the rest are in Mallorca.
Martyn, is that 13-20 July, as opposed to June?. If so maybe we could arrange a meet for everbody in or around Cala d'Or sometime during that week? Looks like jfm is in Cala d'Or around that time. Maybe Colin (Englander) and tcm could be there for around those dates? If you have sold your boat by then, you're more than welcome to kip on our boat if you like although we will have 4 hulking teenagers on the boat at the same time so I'd have to turf a couple of them out of a cabin!
Anyone else think this is workable? Colin, I don't know whether you know Cala d'Or but there is an anchorage outside the harbour and a couple of small calas off the main cala in which you can anchor
Sounds like a plan Mike ;-), although we will be in Menorca if all goes according to plan so please don't make us a major consideration when deciding where and when. We can get anywhere on the island if we are about.
Yep, I know cala d'or well, and have a nice wee spot to anchor!! Actually in Cala d'or, the marina is in another cala! We can make it there in a day or so, maybe two.
All good. I'll go thru the replies on this thread this evening mebbe to see if there is a consensus date for an afternoon anchor up! Son Vida I assume you wont be able to get the ph50 to the Med in time (?) so I'll happily ferry you guys about and feed you on my old tub, if you like
BTW it doesn't have to be Cala D'Or. I'm happy to blast to somewhere west like Palma, Santa Ponsa, Andraitx (sp?), etc
I suggest any more thoughts get put onto here then we'll try to hatch a plan within the next week or so
The capitainerie from RCNP just emailed my back and offered me a berth - €1000ish for a week, sheesh, but very nice reply and helpful so I'll book that. Thanks mrs TCM for the contact. I've booked 5-12 July in RCNP, by the way
Be great if you would come a bit further towards Ibiza. Rather than cala d'or.
Great anchorages around, and a good one next door to puerto portals, behind the breakwater. Plenty of room on Englander also for entertaining.
OK, that's fine. You and the other Balearix formites should choose the location - it's not my manor so i don't know my way about anyway. But I'm fine coming there from Cala D'Or cos it's only an hour or two for me
In my experience, Cala d'Or is a slightly easier place to get berths compared to Santa Ponsa where they seem to have very few if any visitor berths and Andraitx is often very full although the harbour anchorage is excellent. But I would be happy to go anywhere. Andraitx is very attractive and probably has better restaurants than Cala d'Or. By the way I hope you're not expecting fine dining in the Balearics because it's very rare
I do have to consider 4 teenage boys who will need a town to mooch about in and do whatever teenage boys do
We could do it without berths though. Can just anchor for afternoon /evening/night? Eat and party aboard, esp with large boats (Englander, TCM's cat) in the stack?
Perhaps in a location where teenage boys can be taken ashore to fleshpottery by tender?
Yup, in that case Andraitx would be a good spot. Plenty of room to anchor in the harbour and it's well sheltered from every wind except westerlies (normally E/SE prevail). Easier to get to for Englander as on W side of Majorca. Attractive town with plenty of restaurants. Teenagers can dinghy themselves ashore
Huh, well I know I said not to take us into considertion but Andraix is about as far away as you can get from where we are! Cala D'Or would have suited us better but if everybody else prefers Andraix it shouldn't be that much of a problem.
Sorry, Martin, you're right. Many apologies. For me it's 6 of one, half a dozen of the other because I'm coming from Palma. I'll let others make the decision. tcm, jfm, sv, englander, it's your call
