I need a berth for about 5 nights June 25th on.
I have a place in Andratx, but his lordship instead of being greatful wants to be nearer the aiport.

But does anyone know who may take Catamarans (15M x 7.3M) in Palma Or Ibiza. Club de Mar, Marina Port de Mallorca nor Arenal can help.

Any ideas greatfully received.

Mrs TCM

Hi Diana,

Palma marinas notoriously unhelpful when trying to prebook berths, common wisdom seems to be "turn up and they will sort you out" but not sure how they will react to a Cat which will need two stern on berths.

You could try Portals, they have plenty of large berths and should be able to fit you in.

Thanks for this.

Puerto Portals don't take catamarans
Marina Alboran only take boats from Monday to Friday and then you have to go out. It is change over day for charter boats!

But thanks anyway.

'kinell, how close to the airport does 'his lordship' want to be? Andraitx to Palma airport is only about 45-60 mins. Pretty sure Club de Mar could take a cat as there are long lengths of quay on the outside which are normally only used in the summer for visitors parking alongside rather than stern-to and which have no beam restriction. Only problem will be the incoming swell which can be irritating when there are a lot of boat movements in the harbour and in southerly winds but I guess that won't bother you too much in a cat. Club de Mar is 20-30mins from the airport. If you do contact them ask for Matteo and mention my boat name 'Infinito'
Can't help you with Ibiza only to say that berths are even more difficult to get in Ibiza than Majorca and the marinas won't take advance bookings. I heard a couple of marinas in Ibiza Town harbour were charging €375/night in high season for a 15m berth last season. I dread to think what they'd charge for a cat. Btw don't be tempted to anchor inside the new breakwater in Ibiza Town harbour 'coz it's prohibited and the Guardia Civile enforce it. Some poor sod was fined several thousand euros last year for dropping his hook there

Try RCNP. Very close to the centre of Palma and I have seen Cats on the visitors pontoon before. I have usually found that they only reply after you resend the original email a couple of times on consecutive days, but the do usualy reply!

Keep the Andraitx berth and get him a big taxi!! How long are you going to be in Ibiza/Mallorca? We will be there beggining of June, staying down there until late september, probably anchor in St. Antonio, Yes I know the town is awful, but a good base for day trips to formentera etc. and excellent holding in mud!

If you have a berth at the marina in Andraitx, the place is lovely, both the marina and the town, and well worth the €50 taxi ride to the airport - or hire a car??

Pick up a buoy in San Antonio rather than a berth. The town is OK, and not as full of lager louts as you might think. Watching the sun go down is nice, but the clapping as it does so is a bit over the top /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

In June last year we stopped 5 nights in Santa Eulalia , which was a nice run from Andratx. They had plenty of space, but only 3m depth. We couldnt get a booking without turning up, and when we did there was plenty of room, you could occupy 2 berths I guess. It was a great place to stay with good food and walking distance to almost everything.

They did allow boats to moor on the fuel pontoon overnight, so worst case stop and come back?

Hope you find something

Martyn

Are there bouys available to rent in St. Antonio, I believe there used to be, but heard they were no longer available, would like one if poss.

We spent 1 night on the "fuel berth" at St. Eulalia in June, (I think there were about 8 decent sized yachts on the berth. They would not allow us in until 6.30pm, and we had to be away by 9.30am... even in pretty bad Easterlies. With more experience I might have anchored, but it was a bit windy.

Headed off to San Antonio, spending a night in Cala Tarida, which was lovely.

Knowing what I know now, I would probably spend more time at anchor, somewhere where you can dinghy ashore for shops, bars, and restaurants.

I'd stick to Andrax and put up with an extra 15 minutes on the motorway. Finding a berth normally is a nightmare. I've done it for a commercial client with two (!) large Fontaine Pajot catamarans in Palma but the fees were on a superyacht scale.

Thanks for all your help. We will be spending most of the time at anchor and dinghying ashore for refreshments. Much cooler and more pleasant. We will be starting off in St Antonio.

I was pleased to get a space at Andratx first hit. Well ecstatic really after trying to find a place last year for a Cat. No one else can help. Club Nautica still waiting after 2 emails but seems unlikely.

So will be in Ibiza and Majorca from 9th ish June
to mid July so looking forward to meeting up with old friends.
