The grim summer has finally got to me and some quick research on the weather here over the next couple of weeks finally persuaded me to give in to SWMBO and the kids and to forgo an East Coast cruise and book a late deal fortnight in Cala D'Or, Majorca /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I am told there is a lovely marina nearby but this will only make me hanker for the boat /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

So the question is are there any places where I can charter a small boat/rib in Majorca? Anyone any suggestions and idea of costs?

All help gratefully recieved.

You can hire Ribs and dayboats by the day at Pollensa on the public quay (to the right as you are facing the marina in front of La Llonga) We had a crownline 24ft for about 200e for the afternoon, and he chucked in skis and donut. They also have 4 or 5 20ft ribs with sun covers, ideal for exploring.

I think its Nautinort http://www.puerto-pollenca.com/Boat%20Hire%20puerto%20pollenca.htm
but not sure.

Pollensa is a nice place to hire because the bay is sheltered with lots of little places to anchor all within 10-20 mins boating, and some fab places to stop. If you do go let me know and I can recommend some places to consider such as http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=39.940363&lon=3.18125&z=17.6&r=0&src=ggl

The resturant on Pollensa quay is La Llonja at http://www.restaurantlallonja.com/web/index_en.html and it does great food, but does get booked up so you need to reserve

Cala Dor is nice but tends to sometimes be a bit bumpier as you go straight out into the sea, but it is a nice play to stay and the marina is nice, we purchased our boat from there.

sorry to butt in on this thread.. but martynk gave me some usful info on places to visit on the island a few weeks ago.

Not off for a few weeks but can you advise if many of the marinas have visitors berths in september such as pollenca area (NE of the island) and what you would expect to pay for a 40 foot berth for the night.

never been before only used to marinas nearer to home. any advise most welcome

TIA

Pollenca and Alcudia will have plenty of visitors moorings in September. Pollensa does sometimes have a problem with wind on the visitors moorings, the moorings are open to N and NE winds and we have seen many a boat foul its props if it didnt get away sharply when windy. You can anchor in the bay though or further out near the airfield. Pollensa is around 40-45e a night for 12m last time i asked with elec and water.

Alcudia is by far the best place to stop, I think around 45e a night peak time, so perhaps less in September. Great beach opp marina (Longest in Northern Mallorca) clean showers and loos, loads of places to eat and everything in walking distance, plus of course very sheltered. They all speak good english and unlike most other marinas will always answer promptly on channel 9 Also great places to anchor within 5 minutes

We are out on the 4th - 9th September if you are there and want to say hi

I can get you an email if you want to forward book for Alcudia. pm me or meddreamer.

Hello, it's not quite as far north, as Alcudia/Pollensa, but I find Ratjada charming. You raft against the town quay, rather than going bows- or stern-to, but it's municipal so it's cheap and the restaurants throughout the town is great. There's more info on my site and if you do find any particularly good restaurants, do let me know.
I hope you enjoy the holiday.
