Setting off in a few days from La Linea for Majorca. Plan on spending a couple of weeks there in various places and also hiring a car and seeing the interior - maybe take in some golf. Any suggestions for must-see places experiences gratefully received.

Thanks in advance

Drive up to Alaro, walk up to the monastery, then have a meal at the farm/restaurant next to the highest point you can get the car. AFAIK they only do one meal, escargots Spanish style followed by roast lamb with potatoes. Superb each time we have been.

A must, is the bay of Pollenca in the North of the island, the restaurant Stay in Puerto Pollenca, next to the marina or La Lonja on the marina, both good.
Soller on the West coast - fantastic senery and small bays on the way up to the North. Palma is a great place to visit, lots going on and all very accessible.
Good bus service also, 5, euros Palma to the north.
Virtually the whole of the West coast north to south into the Tramontana Mountain range, is now a world heritage site and a must see also. Make sure the car is in sound condition !
I live in the north part of the year so Im obviously biased :-)
Enjoy.

If you want to chill.... Colonia sant pere is my favourite place....

Opposite Side of the bay to alcudia...

But Ssssshhhhh don't tell too many people.

was there a good few years ago went to a winery taken by a local .Barrel 12 foot high gallon bottes of table wine £1 .. 25p back on the bottles ! very nice it was I couldnt tell you where it was though was moored at Porto Christo

enjoy. if you want to get out of the tourist area probably Porto Colom ist the best. At least ist was years ago.

Question. Have you been in the Marina in La Linea ? Your experience ?

Fair winds !

Do take in the Tramontana area. Have dinner in Fornalutx.

Moor in Santa Ponsa bay. PLAN AHEAD and sail to Isla Cabrera. Climb the castle stairs . As JimB said Bar Abaco in Palma. Enjoy! It's great

And in Palma, check to see if the extraordinary Bar Abaco is still active in the old city. See http://www.jimbsail.info/mediterranean/west-med/balearics/palma
Yes but steer the SWMBO away from the stupidly expensive cocktails! If you are renting a car drive to Andraitx and then follow the coast road to Soller and then the mountain road to Pollensa. Its a stunning drive. Well worth taking a trip to Port Soller with the boat, staying a night at anchor or in the marina and them taking the old tram upto Soller for dinner in the evening. The picture postcard anchorage at Sa Colobra is well worth visiting. We like Alcudia as a port. A bit bucket and spade but there is an excellent steak restaurant called Meson Dulcinea there http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g580312-d1888994-Reviews-Meson_Dulcinea-Port_d_Alcudia_Alcudia_Majorca_Balearic_Islands.html. The most picturesque anchorages are on the east coast and my favourite was Cala Mondrago. As ever arrive early if you want to find space. On the south coast, there is another beautiful anchorage at Cala Pi. In Palma Bay there are good anchorages at Illetes and Portals Vells but they get very crowded. Lastly, I recommend a night at anchor in Andraitx. Lovely spot and with an attractive town with plenty of waterside bars and restaurants. It'll be too hot for golf (at least for me) but if you're up for it, Alcanada near Alcudia is a spectacular course

Thanks for this Mike, have always eaten at the front (the Miramar) or in the marina but will be looking for this in September.
