The MRF will be held 28/29th July.
Somebody might want to check those dates.

No news yet from the council on the Medway River Festival.

Is there anywhere to get any info re this? For the last few years I have been meaning to go, but it always seems like an event that happens under the radar.

Info that the festival is going ahead and that private sponsership has been found for the firework display came from a member of a upper Medway boat club involved in organising this years event.
Suspect Maidstone Council are involved but very much doubt financially if their previous history is anything to go by.
Did search on Google but came up with zilch, perhaps MRF publicity dept is yet to swing into action.
In ancient times the EA was not above doing deal for tidal boaters and doing a reduced weekend rate for visitors. (Hint )

Better times...

Yes the weekend of 24-25th June.
The organiser Ian Foster is at this moment twisting the arms of the great and the good.
Many do not know that this event starts at the historic (a much abused word) Guildhall in Rochester High street with the ROFF Fisherman Court, starting around 9.00AM.
The Saturday run is up to the Hawkestone at Halling and the Sunday trip is down to the Montgomery to lay a wreath.
Hoping to get some actual support from ALL the other clubs on the river whatever their boating preferences, which has noteably been sadly lacking in the past.
The whole idea is to promote the Medway and everything that takes place in/on or under it and perhaps get local councillors to realise what an asset they have on their doorstep.

Humm yes a truly great river event, mind you, what the regular users failed to mention was the Fire Ships off Upnor Castle, but if you got English blood in your veins then you used to it {:-)#
