A fair turnout with boats travelling from as far as the East Coast, guessing at around 100 boats.
6 boats made the trip up from RCC , one cancelled due to "bad weather "
Weather was err..... half decent.
Last time we went was 2003ish having gone most years since late 80's. Sure I read that it had come to an end so good to see it hasn't. The only riverside i recognise is the last picture. Used to be very difficult to get a space to moor back in the day, even with everyone stern to!
Local council have somewhat belatedly once again begun to appreciate the asset they have flowing through the centre of their county town.
The area did receive investment a few years ago with renovation of the river bank, pedestrian walkway and modern improved lighting to illuminate the area after dark.
"They" in their wisdom of course totally failed to provide any method of securing boats to the walkway making it very difficult/impossible to moor .Only part of the wall is actually usuable to moor simply due to silting at one end.
So MBC and EA how about some proper mooring bollards, its only been 10 years and a tiny bit of dredging.
...and no pennant either , however some of the old Medway traditions are still being being kept up, we did pass a dead dog on the way up to Maidstone .
