Anyone else go to see it yesterday evening?

I thought it was brilliant - very well put together, a story well delivered and engaging. Even my reluctant sailing wife thought it was brilliant.

Quite enjoyed seeing proper sailing on a cinema screen.

It has somewhat reinvigorated my desire to go off and do an OSTAR or similar though...

Saw it last night and agree, absolutely fantastic film :)

My wife also loved it, and now can't wait to get back on the boat :encouragement:

I saw it last night as well and thought it was an extraordinary film. I defy anyone that watches it not to be moved. If you're male then I might also expect you to be embarrased in equal part. The Q and A session afterward was interesting and Tracy's observation that whilst the younger men involved in sailing see no difference between male and female sailors, there remains a cadre of crusty souls who should just "get out of the way".

Brilliant evening.

Yes, saw it in Southend last night. Apart from my wife and I, there were 1 other couple in the cinema. Thats it. Which is a shame, as the film was excellent. Very well put together, fascinating and inspiring. I want my daughter to watch it.

We watched it on Ocean Village last night - loved it.

Very poignant for us, as reading her book inspired our own mini odyssey, which led to the brokerage and then my wifes book.

So thanks Tracey!

We saw it is Guildford, fantastic. Thought the Q&A afterwards was tedious ninth extreme.

The general release will not include the Q&A.

The most enthralling leg was the Uruguay to Fremantle, the footage is extraordinary to say the least. It is worth watching the film just for that leg.

Oh one more thing. The girls seemed to have been motivated because of the terrible treatment they received by the other teams and the unenlightened press (the Guardian journalist seeming being one of the most sexist!).

However then they decided to end leg four wearing extremely sexy swimming costumes, that undermines their credibility, at that point they wanted to have their cake and eat it.

Subjective. I dont think it undermined them at all bit im aware thats just my opinion....

I take it another way, "so what if we're girls.. look what we can do!" They are "owning it".

I also seem to remember that they state in the film that they want to distract the press. ?

I'd disagree too. It was a clever PR move to keep them in the public's eye. I think they said it was the most syndicated photo of the year. Have a look at the caption under the photo in an article written a female

That caption is brilliant :)

It was the most syndicated sports picture of the year. One of the headlines was "here come the girls", which is basically saying "move over chaps, your not in control anymore". Check out the attitude on the Sugarbabes track of the same name :encouragement:
