Magellan\'s terrifying circumnavigation
If you like a bit of history then my recommendation is "Over the edge of the world: Magellan's terrifying circumnavigation of the globe" by Laurence Bergreen.
It's a fascinating and dramatic account of Magellan's circumnavigation. Though he was killed on route, and it turns out his slave was probably the first person to circumnavigate the globe, as part way round they call at the region from which he was taken some years earlier.
