Madness

They only use the warps when the weather is bad.
Normally they just keep the ramp on the quay by positioning the ferry using the engine and everyone dashes/drives on and off then away they go.

Brilliant. They are obviously used to handling those conditions. Reminds me of a time past when the world used to get on with it.

One of them was wearing a Hi-viz vest!

Yep, someone told him it was a life jacket and he was the guy that couldn't swim.;)

Although it all seemed crazy to us, you have to admire the boat handling. Looking at the spray coming off the waves in the open sequence, it must have been blowing around 30-35 knots and the filming tends to flatten out the true size of waves too.

honestly don't see anything particularly odd

as mentioned, always approach with stern gate lowered and sort of use it as an "anchor" to dock.
OK, it was a bit wet, but this system works for donks, why change it? :p
Thank god no H&S down here yet, struggling to figure out why this guy is wearing the hi-viz vest...

and in a more serious note, this is clearly winter time, there are dozens of isles on restricted winter route timetables that practically means if the ferry doesn't pick and drop it may be a week before the next visit...
Obviously not many of these islands have airports!

quite a few such videos on youtube, some with much larger boats on much worse conditions.

cheers
