Some friends of mine are taking a yacht to the Uk from here, Lanzarote. They are letting me know the entry procedures at each place, hope it might help someone.

Before leaving last Saturday, they completed an entry form Madiera Safe. They sent this with copies of their vaccination certificates to the island. On arrival Monday, they contacted the port authorities in Funchal and were directed to anchor in the harbour outside the marina. On Tuesday they were given approval to enter. No testing.

Leaving Friday for one of the Azores Islands. Have been told to arrive, anchor off and be directed for testing by local authority. When the send details, I'll post it.

So far with Madeira, it seems easy but a lengthy process. However, who goes sailing to be in a rush? ?

They have decided to leave this evening. On arrival, as thought, they must anchor off and get tested. Will post how that works.

To stay in Azores, even moving to another island, will need testing again after six days, then again after nine days.

Sounds like they are being careful on the Portugese Islands,

They arrived in Punta Delgada around midnight last night.....no wind motored all the way.

There is a quarantine berth in the old marina opposite the diesel dock where they were directed to berth. The health people who conduct a covid test are due shortly........island time! Should get a result in 24 hours then permitted ashore. Will post cost when they let me know.

So the Azores are possible but as usual with sailing, patience is required......
