SWMBO has a very sensitive nose, and the delicate aroma of Eau de manky oily bilgewater that pervades Jissel is causing annoyance and friction. I've cleaned as much of the bilges as I can reach, but the smell just won't go away.

Any ideas?

Bilgex with warm water (and let it slosh a little), alternatively, give SWMBO a bottle of flash and tell her to get on with it!

Could try the enzyme based sprays. I used one on cat scented house once - did have some effect but had to take up the floorboards in the end.

If your boat leaked properly, the bilge water wouldn't get so stale!
Seriously tho, a trigger spray dettox or similar applied generously to everything that isn't either food or fabric seems to help.

It is amazing what difference an electric dehumidifier can make. Our boat had developed the typical stale, musty odour typical of many older boats. I dried out the boat thoroughly , cleaned bilges and underbunk spaces and dried it again: no more smells.
