Just been reading Bernard Moitissiere's Long Way and he mentions MIK signalling. Can anyone tell me what this stands for?

Anorak mode on...
The signal flags MIK stand for "Please report me to Lloyd's London". Useful when you don't have a radio and the ship did. As used in the pre 1969 International Code of Signals.
In the current code it stands for "Sputum is offensive" (all M prefixed signals are medical)
