I have just finished uploading loads of photos from our Channel Islands (and a little bit of France) trip which got back from last week.

We went Lymington-Alderney-Sark-Guernsey(Havelet Bay)-Herm-Jersey(St Aubin)-Écréhous-Portbail-Alderney-Yarmouth

Not a fantasticaly orginal trip I know but 'cos we could dry out we did get a bit off the beaten track and didn't do one plastic marina.

Here are a few mini photos to whet your appetite - the rest are on the blog link below if you are interested.

Thanks but to you know...

Nice trip, and nicely found places :)

Thanks - I assume your are a local - St Aubin was a real find. Restored my faith in Jersey as St Helier never was out cup of tea.

I don't suppose you know much about either...

St Germain Sur Ay or Regneville sur Mer do you ?

In you neck of the woods and nothing mentioned in any of my pilot books. As you will see from the blog we had a look at St Germain but had already missed the tide. Can't find much on the web either. Already planning the next trip.;-)

If there is a puddle with water in it and a Spring tide we will sail into it !

Cheers

no :o

Because I iz local I only go to places I know  I do vaguely recall looking at a Chart a good few years back for places other than Portbail / Carteret on that coast and thinking "hmmmmmm" with the vague idea that whenever by car or motorbike to have a good looksee from land, but I have never done so........Google maps (satellite) looks interesting...........

BTW I like the concept of the trip on costs and finding places to tuck away in

Glad you liked me home port :)

St Germain Sur Ay & Regneville sur Mer

Googling gives aerial pics from Google Earth, France Map, FranceCoastLine and Panoramio showing these once commercially active inlets - St Germain even has its own tide tables, a sinusoidal graph matching the curves of the young lady extending a welcome, tho the rocky reefs extending seaward might deter the prudent mariner.

Admiralty charts 2655 & 2656 don't give enough detail, but the French have their own charts (try Imrays) while Michelin maps might prove useful, certainly for driving around to view from the shore as has been suggested.

I have always gleaned most info from other sailors and recommend dropping your hook off Marmotiere or Maitress Ile and asking around - a bottle of Pastis helps.
Bon chance!
