What a brilliant weekend! I'm surprised no-one else has mentioned it yet. There was a steady stream of boats pouring into Lydney harbour at high-water Saturday. When the gate closed there were 38 boats inside, rafted up to 4 deep. The sun shone, there was music, stalls, a barbecue, and plenty of beer. Five pound a night harbour dues seems like a bargain compared to the Swansea show. Departure at high-water Sunday was "interesting", but after reversing, warping and general good humour, everyone got away on the tide.

Thank you Lydney! :):):):):):):):):):):)

We have to agree, an excellent weekend and a very interesting entrance and exit from the harbour !!
Well worth the trip up from Portishead and a definite "will do again".
Everyone had a good time judging by the sore heads the next morning :o
I even managed a few pics of the convoy going up

We too had a fantastic time, as said before the entry and exit were fun! I think I made the best hash of leaving. My great plan of "If we get sideways the wind will take us round" may have worked better with some wind! The whole weekend was a highlight of a year which has already had many highlights. I have never been to a friendlier event or place. It was great to meet a few people off here too.

I thought of taking a few pictures of you blocking the lock gates but was too busy nursing my sore head !
Still, reversing out of there seemed like a pretty good option. So the lock master was saying "no one has hit the wall for a long time" ............. no there's a challenge !
Hope to see you all in Cardiff on the 3rd.

Did I miss something then?

I was over at Sharpness watching a couple of buddies of mine. They braved it in a couple of narrow boats (with some other MB buddies of mine). Even with the lack of wind it was absolute madness arriving at Sharpness and the journey out didn't look much better!!! Glad you all had a great time though, sounds as if there was plenty to do! I've never tried it, maybe pluck up the courage next year. My boat is more than capable just the skipper is the issue.
