just to let you know if you’ve not been to Lydney you are certainly missing out. A pretty spot, helpful harbourmaster and a reasonable fee.
New lock gates and a cafe too, sailing club is open at the weekend for a beer and bite but plan to be self reliant at other times as the town is a reasonable walk.
It is a navigational experience that should not be missed if you have the time.
Don’t say there’s nothing to do in the BC!
Read up your pilot guide and visit it when the weather is suitable and you’ll have found a new ‘favourite’ in the BC

My first club and excellent

However if turning up by boat ensure the lock is available and arrive within 20 minutes of high tide. One can tie up on drying out poles instead but shore support pretty essential

Dinghies could dry out on the foreshore - wellies needed as it’s muddy. That’s where I kept my first yacht

Lydney yacht/sailing club used to have a weekend event once a year. We went a few times, really enjoyable. I hope they are going to restart that event.
