Lurkers !

Fora it is.
thanks Cap'n.
After a day spent scrubbing a filthy water tank with largely ineffective bicarb and vinegar paste I can tell you that has made me smile. I may well join several completely random fora just so that I can show off (as soon as I can train my spellcheck to accept it)

I don't care to re-edit for those who don't care to be polite, i just let you use your skills to decipher.

I don't always construct sentences in one go, often getting calls or messages while typing is in progress.

cutting and pasting using fingers best designed for filling holes in dams (i have Dutch Blood in my veins), is not so easy to achieve when on an iPhone keypad.

Still, at least i'm not in as much danger of being burnt alive by a Samsung Competitive product.

Anyone had their home insurrance go up for owning a Note 7 yet?

Alan

I'm sorry about No Regrets. Much of the time he seems quite normal, but even a cursory review of the Thames forum will show that from time to time he slips in to obnoxious mode. We don't know why.

To me and likely most it is strange behaviour to seemingly post with the sole intent to annoy or belittle a complete stranger - and to what end?

I'd hope i make anyone a better friend than an enemy, prefer to make others laugh than cry.

if i manage to make you cry laughing at me i feel I've earnt a little bit of my own right to an existence.

being a strong minded pragmatist (aka a stubborn old git), i take the view anyone picking on my 'failings' and moved to highlight them in a derigatory way, are compelled to look for my posts likely more than most ofhers.

Just means to me i've succesfully caused them to self harm reading all my thoughts in seeking the bitter sweet taste of expected irritation.

job done i'd say ;).

I have to confess to being a Spelling Nazi. I have however learned to live with it. One must accept that Smart Phones don't lend themselves to composing messages.
There's no excuse for not reading what you've typed before pressing the "Post" button, though. It doesn't take a minute to correct mistakes, and IOS, or any other, only uses autofill if you have it set to do so.

Indeed. And a reason why many have left here.

And you seemed so friendly when we met on the river a few weeks ago :encouragement:

I strongly suspect this is a good example of the difference between old fashion boating verses modern boating and inter-netting :-)

When I had my little boat on the Thames I don't think I fell out with anyone. On here it's so easy...

To give you an idea, I wear size XXL gloves, my fingers are very broad at the tip's. Results in hitting the wrong key like o instead of p, x instead of c. Typing 'if' for 'of', and 'dine' instead of 'done',

A mistype of 'thus' for 'this' is a typo, but not a spelljng mistake and harder to spot on a small screen keyboard display, than on a 30/32" monitor.

Correction may need 'where' instead of 'wear', but the suggestions do not show until you press 'Done' or you select a word that looks wrong.

When i type i'm not the quickest, to save time i tend to get my thoughts down first, before looking for typo's, often alter or delete a sentence.

With a short response i can see the whole message constructed, as for example, if like i am now repeating your post as a quote, it takes up six lines leaving 4 lines of the available visable 10 lines, after that anything further typed, earlier text input scrolls off the screen.

I have auto spell and text switched off, as i find it inserts its guessed words i've never ever seen before, it also applies punctuation 'properly' but without asking me first before doing so, and no line underneath to warn me it has.

I often edit my post after sending which for some reason i do not see mistakes until then,

There is no option to invoke spell check, I really do try to catch them, just not perfect at it - so sorry for being thick, old with now with less sharp eyesight than i had, where i could read a news paper 25 feet away.

When i'm talking, my severe typing disabilities do not show, i find strangely i'm very accurate at spelling, but i then manage to be even more ruddy confusing!!

But i'm worth it ? .

Agreed and thanks.

Just like music, i wish people would understand when i sing, i do know all the notes and the words, but i just get them in the wrong order, song and key ? .

I've even tried dictation, results are worse than those tiny unreadable manuals you get with ebay items. ?

I think It's a bit like people you know as generally really nice, who change character when they get behind a steering wheel.

The written word is open to interpretation, and a written response, where the spoken word is an opertunity to get a swift punch in the gob! ??

Of course you're worth it :) and you managed to produce that lengthy post perfectly well.

Thankyou, thats very kind - unfortunately i got 'spelling' wrong in second paragraph, it has a 'j' in it and shouldn't have.

can i hear the firing squad loading their muskets, or is it just my paranoia?
