Did a first very short trip last week under engine only. To keep SWMBO interested, another one is planned for this week. Where, apart from the Jolly Sailer, is half decent for lunch?

Please bear in mind we have no tender.

The Ketch Rigger at Hamble Point?

Dog House at Swanwick - good Italian chef!

I like the food at the Square rigger (?) , at Hamble point, they do great fish/chips and mushy peas, good pint there to.

Ditto Skysail! But he has it right Ketch Rigger!

Dunno about lunch, but the Old Ship at Bursledon has got to be the best value for supper on the river. Short stroll from Moody's or Deacon's.

The Old White Harte in Hamble is quite nice. From the waterfront, walk up the hill, past the Bugle and the Square, and you will find it on your left after a hundred yards or so.

There's a visitors' jetty at Hamble, though not huge amounts of water at LWS, as I recall.

Is there still a floating restaurant up at the Elephant Boatyard? (Park at the Elephant, or Deacons)

The resto at Mercury marina does a pretty mansized Sunday lunch carvery.

The main boozer at Warsash (forget name) is also goodish pub food. Park on the visitors pontoon or probably on the HM pontoon at this time of year.

Now a resto at Universal Crableck. Not tried it.

Everywhere, between 9-6, you can get ashore/afloat using the Hamble River taxi. 07720438402

Steve your more confused than me /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

The Ketch Rigger is under the MDL office at Hamble Point.

Restaurant Barge still at the Elephant. Pretty good from what I have heard. Mooring is tight at Deacons though, not many free spaces. Better to try at Moodys as they usually have some space - or contact the HM as there are some piles up the end which sometimes seem to have visitors on.

Cafe Lulworth at Universal is well worth a visit, excellent value and good food, certainly not your average cafe.

Should be plenty of space for a short stay visitor this time of year.

Yes, it's called the Ferry and it's very good. But you'll need to stop over in Swanick Marina (Moodys) for a short stay and then walk over the bridge and it's down past the Aladins Cave superstore.

It's called the Oyster Quay and the Sunday carvery is £8.95 for eat as much as you like.

It's called the Rising Sun (and it's my local). Food is pretty good, but then I'm biased. Best to try for a shorst stay on Harbour Master's pontoon.

Nor have I but have heard good reports

You also have the Bugle and the Queens Head in Hamble village. The other option is the Spinnaker which is opposite Moody's.

Won't be motoring to the Ferry as my berth is right next to it!

If the HM will let us use his pontoon at Warsash for an hour or two then that would be great, but I don't have a tender at the moment so the visitor berths are out.

Word of warning - the Dog House has been err, shut.

New owners doing it up.

As of last weekend it wasn't open................
