The boat, not the cove.

If you're, ahem, past the first flush of youth, like me, you will remember Lulworth and Velsheda moored alongside each other in mudberths at Crableck, on the Hamble, slowly crumbling away. Lulworth was lived on by (I think) the old lady who owned the yard - or perhaps I am imagining this. I went aboard once, and the accommodation down below was stunning.

Some years back, she was finally removed for renovation which has been a lengthy and protracted process, I suspect. However, she is apparently now back in the water as this photo (nicked from B****,Y*****,M******) shows.

And this is the story.

Nice, eh?

No sign of Velsheda on the entries list at antigue.

Incidently, not meaning to be a pedant, but its 'Vel' not 'Val', named after three daughters of the chap who had her built, Velma, Sheila, Daphne, I thnk he owned Woolworths.

nonsense. The name "Velsheda" is a joke, actually a spanish play on words essentially meaning "old shed" - Vel as in "Port Vell". It mockingly refers to an unguarded and disparaging comment made by George V in the late 1920's upon hearing of plans to build the boat.
