LUCKY,LUCKY GLUDY

SuperScuffer - can't answer that one - only passing on what Tony Chappel told us at the Show. Also we were on holiday when the 42 report was done and I have not been able to get hold of a magazine to read it. However, I do find it a bit
odd that we have expressed a very keen interest in the boat since we saw it on the drawing board but despite a couple of requests we have not been invited for a sea trial.

IMHO in order to cure the spray problem the hull design would have to be changed. I do not think that will happen. So the best way out of it is to rubbish the test report.

I have had black and white denials of the evidence in front of your eyes from the same source. Such denilas that in the end you begin to question your own sanity.

Does anyone really think that the testers were not able to tell the difference between a f4 with a slight sea and a f6/7? Frankly if they could not they should be lined up and shot as useless boat testers.

I told SWMBO about this last night and her surprise was because I was surprised. She asked why I should be surprised when I had been subjected to the same denial culture for the last two years?

The 64 that is now being shown is a boat returned from Dubai - that was hull three with only three boats built to date and its back here having spent some time being sand blasted in the Middle East. Seems to be a brisk business in selling returned boats. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif To date there have been two 42's, the second one arriving a few months back.

I am so pleased to have almost escaped that mad world. Its a bonus that I played a part in bringing into the UK some competition that will provide a real contrast of quality, design and value. I hope the introduction of the Marlow with its world pricing will have a ripple effect out to the wider competition.

The lack of sea trail does not surprise me - they do not have a stock boat to trial although the latest and second 42 may still be there - lets face it my new boat was there for 6 months after arrival - maybe its a cheap way to avoid having a stock boat /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If you ever even get a response to your sea trial request, which I doubt, make sure you go out past Chichester harbour entrance and out to sea.

When I sea trailed Drumbeat outside Chichester harbour in calm conditions I watched the 42 - sorry I watched the spray underneath which I think there was a 42 with some interest. At that time I was doing over 20 knots without spray so I suppose on the Chappell scale as opposed to the more use Beaufort scale, it would probably be an f8/9

spot-on - I've seen the 42 at sea several times, and in the harbour too. It creates a whole lot of spray & wash- I can well believe the test reports.

Maybh1, I wasn't doubting that you were accurately reporting back what you had been told. Its just that the pictures in the boat test do look like its a fairly calm day.

I don't have a particularly high regard for journalists in general, having been stitched up myself by them in the past, but given that Trader always has a 1 page ad in the magazine, it must have been a hard decision for them to print that review.

The answer is of course to get out and try the boat yourself.

We will not bother with the 42 now. Instead, we will sell, house, boat, business, our souls and possibly the grandchildren to finance a Marlow

Managed to get hold of the August 2007 magazine at last and saw the pictures. Clearly the sea is far short of force 6/7. I was stunned to see just how bad the article was overall - I had actually only read a condensed version on the Trader site in which they had only extracted the good bits. MBM's score of 6/10 is pretty damning

When I get my Marlow I will be doing my long hel ambition to circumnavigate the UK - so there will be lots of opportunity as I will spend 6 months doing it calling at most ports.

Ocean Village, Southampton can take big boats. There are two either end of my pontoon, I would love to have you as a visitor!

There are some tricky navigation hazards around here, I think I should accompany you on the leg around here, you know, just to be safe

Can I hold you to that because we do plan to cruise over there with her either crossing the Atantic or putting her on a boat and spending 6 months over there.
