Lubricating cabin sliding door

As I think you may have suspected Paul, there is something more amiss than poor lubrication. The boat is supposed to have four runners on the two tracks. This is what they look like:

It transpires that one of them is completely missing. And of course it's the one that is right up behind the dash. Fortunately, by removing the compass, access to replace it is just about possible.

I know that the plastic pieces can be ordered from Trend but was a bit concerned that I wouldn't be able to get the metal piece. Anyhow, one of my partners was passing and he suggested that it might have dropped down into the dash. After half an hour of (blind) fishing out numerous discarded cable ties and other detritus we found the missing piece:

So all I need know if the plastic pieces from Trend which are £6 each.

Result!
Well done Pete. Best to fix the right problem! :)

Parts arrived and door reassembled with a bit of Vaseline to keep everything running smoothly. Works a treat now.

I know Trend have been a bit unhelpful to others in the past but I can confirm that they've given me excellent service.

so post 2 was ok in the end Pete :)

Ah,useful thread. My sliding cabin door has the same disc shaped silver fasteners (looks like exactly the same mechanism) ,and mine are looking a bit worse for wear.

Do you know whete i might be able to order replacements from?

Incedentally i sprayed my runners with silicone spray and they now slide very nicely

Ha ha, I wondered if someone would notice that!

I did chuckle, after all my deliberation and purchase of some WD40 PTFE spray, I was showing off my handiwork to one of my partners and he said "I think Silicone would be better"!

Anyhow, as there are no bearings or anything complex like that I came to the conclusion that Vaseline was as good as anything.

After all, as JFM says, it's a blimmin boat not a Faberge egg. Once you've accepted that wisdom I think boating is a lot more fun.

You can get replacements from Trend Marine. when you order, let then know if you want the washers, the grommet and the plastic block.
