The hose has the date of manufacture printed on it but what is the life expectancy and should it be replaced at any specific interval? Insurer requirement for example.

Recent YM articles on safety have got me checking a number of things but this is a key item.

5 years is definitely the recommended life from date of manufacture for the hoses.

10 years is the interval at which the regulator should be replaced.

When replacing the regulator consider a marine "annexe M" regulator Rather than a caravan one

(Corrosion resistant components above the diaphragm, drain that will drain any water from above the diaphragm and a pressure relief valve on the LP side)

Test all new joints with a leak detector spray.

The orange flexible hose on my workshop propane torch is dated 1977, and the regulator adjusts up to 25 psi. Time to re-new I guess, but it still looks fine!!

Yes I know. I have bits of the black LP hose that have been replaced but still look fine. Some of that dates from 1977. They say it becomes porous.

I replaced the old Camping gaz regulator after about 25 years because I broke it!

OK-hose on my old caravan was fitted by me in 1994-when I removed it this year the rubber was cracked in a big way if looked at across the section.-beware the gas does attack it and cause it to break down all be it slowly
