Hi Guys,
I have just brought a lowrance lms480m and have just connected all the wiring etc. Whilst looking throught he instruction manual, which I always leave to last I noticed a major problem. I have a diesel powered inboard engine fitted to my Loftus Bennet and the manual says that the transducer can not be used with an inboard engine??? WHY.
What difference can the engine make??
Can anyone help me with this as new to this boating game.
Cheers jeff

try this, take a plastic bag and put a small amount of water in it, insert transducer and seal with elastic band, then place on flattish part of hull below water line about 2/3rds along the length of your craft. switch on and note results if not good move around until you get a good return signal, then start engine and move boat around if signal remains good you can then fix the transducer in that position either by making a tube or direct contact with hull using a dense adhesive, I think they supply one. If it does not work then you will have to ask Lowrance your original question.

Hi there
'omega2' has it spot on but I just used a thin bed of silicone sealant to 'stick;' my transducer down to the bottom of the hull.
Its been there two seasons now and will probably still be there for ever.
Cheers
