Lowrance Globalmap 7200C

Does anyone know if it is practical to get NMEA data from a Furuno GP30 to use as a GPS input on the Lowrance 7200C chartplotter instead of using Lowrance's GPS antenna? Any help would be appreciated.

According to the spec it will take NMEA 1083 input which the GPS30 outputs. I know that a number of people are using Lowrance 3600 units with NMEA 0183 inputs rather than the Lowrance supplied antenna so it should work with the 7200.

What's wrong with the Lowrance GPS antenna?
I was attracted to this model since it compares well with the Rayamrine A65 but is much cheaper.

Its got that NMEA 2000 GPS and I didn't want to rip my boat apart to fit it. Got the link from my GP30 ok
