Lowrance 5150c

and very poor detail when you get further afield.

Tenerife Puerto Colon is just a coastline and Positano and Amalfi on the Amalfi Coast, Italy have no detail.

Load up the C-Map Max charts on the PC and it's like the lights have come on.

I think the detail around the UK is good though, and it, (3600i), got us from Glasson Dock to Lagos via Falmouth, Bayona, Leixoes and Cascais, so it cant be`all bad.

For the money it's excellent value.

sbc - is the coverage of the Baltic ok? I'm looking out for an affordable chartplotter, and we hope to go back to the Baltic in a year or so. I was going to save my pennies for a C-map one, but if the Nauticpath charts on the Lowrance are acceptable I'll try that.

Not surprised Italy shows poor detail, its not covered on the Western Europe chart. Balearics should be OK though although that is on the Southern limit.

To be fair, and as you acknowledge, the detail around the UK is good. If I were going serious cruising I would want something larger than a 3500 and running Navonics charts.

Sorry. I should have said that I have the East med cartridge... the one that goes all the way to Israel.

I also have C-map and SOB on the PC....

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I can't find the answer on search.
Which emulator do I download for the 5150c?

Hi Morgana,
Thanks for that. It worked for me before but I don't have the computer with it on.
I'm off downloading now.

Cheers and happy sailing,
Neil

I've downloaded it but can't get it to recognise the map from the SD card.
I used this at the beginning of last summer but my brain appears to have lost the relevant instructions.
I disconnected the card readers on my PC as this was a problem in the past but I still can't get the damned thing to work.
A bit cheesed off now.

Neil

I've discovered that the reader is not installing probably because I am using Vista.
Now I am no further forward..

Can't help you with a Vista install, as mine is running on XP.... but I too had trouble with the card reader, and needed to disable it in XP in order to get the thing running..... I didn't deinstall it, just disabled the various drives associated with the card slots....

Hi again,
It's a pain in the neck. I don't have a pc with anything other than vista now. I'll have to try contacting Lowrance or LEI although I think I tried that last year and got nothing back.
Thanks for all of your help I'll let you know if I have any success.

Morgana,
I have managed to scrounge an XP machine and have downloaded the stuff but I can't get it to Transfer my data. Any ideas?

Assuming you have the special LEI SD card reader (which is modified - you can't use an ordinary SD card reader), then its a straight install.... just the drivers as included, disable any other onboard card readers in XP and then it works.....

I just put the card in the reader, and open the emulator and away it goes.... it does take about 30 seconds the first time to find the card and display the data, but is then plenty fast enough.....

beyond that, i'm afraid i'm stuck in terms of why it wouldn't work....
