I need to replace the hose that runs from the tolet to the holding tank. It is, I believe, 38mm diameter. It is very very importnat that I get the right stuff that does not permeate oduors as the hose runs through the sleeping area at the foot of the bed! The old stuff does allow some odour through as there is sometimes a faint whiff of toilet in the cabin.

I have seen the following:

http://www.leesan.co.uk/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=265 at £23.90 per mtr
or
Jabsco low odour hose available at around £10-£15 per mtr
or
something like this: http://www.bridgerubber.co.uk/acatalog/Sanitation___Waste.html for around £7 per meter.

I only need about 3 metres but the difference between over £70 and £21 is quite significant if they perform roughly the same.

Anyone have any experiences?

Thanks

The £7 one does not look as though it is reinforced. May not matter provided it s not subject to much suction. Perhaps would not be the best choice between a Lavac bog and the pump. If you got a log stuck in the toilet outlet and put some muscle into pumping you'd suck it flat maybe.

I fitted a holding tank sysytem & renewed all my sanitation pipes about 4 seasons ago. I used Seaflow super flexible white sanitation hose which comes with a with 5 year warranty from ASAP

http://www.asap-supplies.com/ and look up code 507819

V smelly heads before fitted - no smells since. Very happy skipper & crew and it was no problem to fit.

Thanks for the replys so far. The toilet is just a jabsco hand pump so don't think suction is going to be a problem. In fact if my thinking is correct, doesn't the pump push the water and solids along the pipe to the holding tank?

The ASAP one looks good. The part number you gave is for 19mm, so I am guessing intake. I need 38mm which they do, part number 507838, but at £20 a meter is kind of at the top end again.

I am happy to pay top end, just need to know that there is a real benefit behind it.

Cheers all

I agree with davewarburton , buy from ASAP, yes it is expensive but it does the job with no smells and another thing I found was that ASAPs hose went on the fittings easily with a little washing up liquid,
worth the extra money to save all the hours I have struggled with the cheapy hoses over the years.
The cheap ones will smell.

The ASAP stuff looks like the top grade material, butyl rubber and double wire reinforcement. I had that in my heads for around five years, no smells from it at all. Two problems - it is very stiff, making it difficult to install and even more difficult to remove, as the rubber stiffens up a lot. I had to cut mine up to get it out. Second problem is that the wire is carbon steel, so it rusts in time. It is also very sharp and difficult to trim, so be very careful when working with it, and when cleaning after installation.

Apologies

I bought both the 19mm & 38mm and took the wrong code from the invoice.

Maybe I was lucky but I unlike vyv_cox I had absolutely no problems fitting the new hose. I was expecting real problems on the seacocks but as Hardley said, a little washing-up liquid did the job (no pun intended!!)

Last year I replaced the toilet and the hose came off the old one and onto the new one, again with no problems and that was after 3 seasons use.
