I have to be honest , i'm struggling to see myself being a part of this forum any more , i try to help and offer explanations to how things work from an inside point of view and i just seem to get shot down all the time .

I am sure all here will agree that your involvement and assistance is very much appreciated.

I was not trying to 'shoot you down', but, if actions such as the Thames Water issue you mentioned can result in severe changes in levels and they fail to inform those that need to know so that they can take appropriate action, why should they not be held accountable?

I will be honest

Aside from the fact I know Howard aka Teddington Lock as a personal friend and have done for years, I don't blame him for knocking this on the head.

He only works for the EA he is NOT the EA, you only have to look at his website to see how passionate he is about his job. He only tries to help and yet gets shot down in flames.

Personally I think you have lost a valued member of this forum form the comments he has recived..

On a different note I walked along the river at Twickenham yesterday, and the river was very very low and blow me down within a few hours it was almost flooded and then it simply went away again as quick as it came up.....

Happy days....

Well I am mortified that T-L quoted me in his "toys out of pram" post; I thought that the tone of my post was clearly in agreement that we shouldn't expect millimetre precision in river levels and the "scientific I can do the maths" bit was a friendly poke in the ribs.

Aplogies both to T-L and everyone who will no longer benefit from his knowledge, wit, and wisdom if mine was the comment that broke the lock-keeper's back.

Here Here, nobody is having a go at you at all. Sounds like you and me have more in common than you think!!

All we are saying (I think) is that we would like to understand how it works more and while HQ are sending out the Charter, it should be published (and highlighted) so all users know that might happen..

All it will take is one publicised expensive boat being damaged and peeps will desert the river like rats leaving a sinking ship.

Sorry T-L, but the EA do mess around with water levels/currents in anticipation of events etc. I've been boating too long and in the same stretch of water (Henley) not to notice the EA getting rid of water & slowing it down prior to the Royal Regatta; it's happened often in the past, and it will do again in the future!

There's various rumours flying about. It isn't for me to spread them on for they are merely rumours.

I can only think he must have told some snotty nosed **** to **** off and that **** complained . If thats the case then its a real shame as the snotty nosed twats on the river out number the nice people .

Better yet pop around and fix it, I have contaminated fuel or something, it will not start. I will have to get an Engineer in.

I expect it will be fixed before I get down for my annual ride in a Hercules.

If it is a Ford derivative could be worth checking the run solonoid is OK and not got stuck over winter. Seems on some engines it is energised to run and de energised to stop. If a problem then it keeps the fuel pump in stop.

Maybe a friendly forumite will help if the test run is just a river crossing for a free pint

FIXED!
I know an Engineer from the local agricultural outlet. He popped around. He had it sorted in a few minutes. Evidentially fuel filters should be changed at least annually, not every nine years and batteries should be renewed every 3 - 4 years and not every 12 years.
