A friend has asked me what I think of this chart service for £25 a year subscription. He is looking for a cheap way of getting charts to download and print, anyone got an opinion on this site: http://www.visitmyharbour.com/

It seems very cheap for having access to any charts considering the cost of paper charts, to good to be true?

I've recently signed up for this too. Although I have an IMRAY chart of my local area (C5), I've found the ability to zoom in to particular sections and print (like sections of the Dart for me) means you have a larger chart you can take along for areas of interest. In addition, if you only travel outside a 'regular' cruising ground occasionally then you can save by not buying charts you may only use once but not sail blind either. I'll review after year 1, but seems good value.

Or screen capture, then georeference them and use in a PC navigation software package???

VisitMyHarbour memberships free upgrade

Hi All,

Just letting you know that VMH has changed policy and are now only taking the £25 membership fee as a one off. All members will be upgraged to permanent membership over the next few months, and anyone who's membership has expired can rejoin for free. Those who've paid a second years subs have been refunded.

This makes membership a much more attractive option, having ongoing access to all those charts, always less than a year old. It's based on useage statistics we've gathered in the last year, and wanting to provide the best service possible.

Best Regards

SB
