Cheers Big Boy

Paddywackocker was behind us somewhehere. You can just see the plume of smoke where his second turbine kicked in. IanGrant was stuck in Cowes with a long smelly white tube and a peg on his nose. Next time I'll go ashore, promise Ian!

Ah dont talk to me about long white tubes, with a peg on the nose - I just wasted about 2 days of the past week doing much the same. If I knew on Monday what I discovered yesterday, I would have just bought a brand new piece of pipe.

Instead, I spent several hours clearing it out, with the final splurge coming yesterday when a clump of calcium and 'stuff' flew out of the end of the pipe under a certain amount of pressure, and slammed into the nice teak door of the heads - but at least its clear now !

Wot, on a broad reach? They were already too tight and we picked up an extra half knot once we eased them

No wonder you have trouble on the lakes. Porta-potti per chance?

Despite our best efforts... a wide and varied track around the northern territories of the IoW.... an hour at anchor in Osbourne bay, and a slow meander into Gosport, followed by a Looe channel passage at a gentlemanly speed, we singularly failed to spot the lot of you......

Very poor effort....

We did however, bump into one fellow with an extraordinarily large grin on his face..... in a strangely familiar Moody called Moondancer......./forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Boat now safely tied up in the Orwell..... after a loooooooong motor round the South Eastern part of the UK!

Could be sheeted in a lot harder.

We were out there, and Freedom of Hamble got to St Peter Port!

Loved the weekend, really great.

Some photos for your perusal.

Erm, at anchor Osbourne Bay on Fri, then back to Haslar. Sunday over to Shepherds Wharf, then back to Haslar.

A great weekend!

Just realised it's a fractional mast so it could be pre-bend (the curvature would be towards the stern but this could be an optical illusion). Even so I'd check it out - here's the best I can do photo wise for a masthead rig

Hi Emot

Sigma 38, has a pre-bend in it, running back stays and tensioning back stay, and the guy up the mast is trying his hardest to take a photo with a camera whilst petrified!!

Oh yeah, the rigging is all new and fitted by Performance rigging of Hamble Point! I am happy with Flash and the boys.

I do thank you for your comments though, thats why I love this forum, you post something and someone is there to offer assistance!!!

I will get it checked though, and post the findings here! You got me thinking now!!

You're not the sort of chap who prior to a race will go round throwing split pins in cockpits are you? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

(That is tongue in cheek BTW)

Thanks all the same, I think Brendan may have it though with a bit of fish eye happening!

All the best

Al.

Sorry Al, I'm now thinking it's pre-bend as you say so sorry about that. You can easily check by looking up the mast groove from the boom

Hee hee, split pins in the cockpit! Never yet though I have been tempted

Cheers
Emot

No worries, lots of people have been very surprised when they actually stand on one side or the other on a Sigma mast and look up!

I have had it looking like a banana with the running back stays and the back stay tensioned when flying the heavy kite! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Have a /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif for your concern though!

Al.
