We bought our 31' 1970s wooden sloop in May 2014. We absolutely love her most of the time, detest her when the engine blows up. After much misery and a couple RNLI rescues I discovered that the prop shaft was bent. Hopefully, now that I've replaced the prop shaft, renewed the cutlass bearing and replaced the engine mounts, the mounting bolts will no longer shear. Anyway, that's all by-the-by, I'm travelling up on the 20th of April from central Italy (where I live) to Plymouth (where the boat is lying) and hoping to cross the channel heading towards the BoB with the eventual aim of entering the Canal du Midi and popping out into the Med. Is anyone planning to make a similar crossing on around about that date? I would welcome the company.
