Can pleasure boats now use Whitstable Harbour? My pilot book says something about only in dire emergencies.

The harbour totally dries.It is almost only used by fishing boats, windfarm vessels and the odd sailing barge doing summer day trips.
There really is nowhere leisure boats can moor with a long climb up a steel ladder your only way ashore.
It can get very unpleasant inside in some wind directions,chum has a 20 ton tug and he will not stay in there if at all possible.

There was some talk a while back of a marina facility off the pier at Herne Bay. Don't know if that is still possible but would have thought might also be subject to problems under certain conditions.

Outline planning permission was also approved for a Brighton style Marina at Ramsgate but nothing came of it. Financially was I believe the fly in the proverbial.
