Lots of moans

I have noticed that the last few posts have mainly been moans about the E.A. (justified I believe). Although I have never attended myself, a number of RUG (River user group) meetings are due to take place within the next month. In particular, on the 7th October 19.30 hrs at the Henley rowing museum. I believe the press could be in attendance as a strong point is to be made about lock keepers houses. Would it be an idea for some of the contributors at this forum, to try and get along to one of their local meetings and use their voices as well as their keyboards.

Interesting comparison to see if the strength of the concern expressed on the forum is reflected in an increase in the numbers attending meetings.
Feel sure that somebody on here will report back at some point.

Hope you enjoy those loudspeakers going from early morning until late at night. Will you come back a Commie?

Can we please diferentiate between 'moans' and the raising of legitimate concerns regarding our use of the rver and facilities?

As for the RUG's go read their website, HERE, and notice just how old and out of date much of the info available is. Read the minutes of the last RUG6 meeting and look at the list of delegates The ATYC delegate apologised for not attending - couldn't someone else have attended on his behalf?

For all the issues raised, I have to confess to being entirely satisfied with my Thames usage so far.

Our humble little vessel doesn't require huge swathes of Riverbed dredging, or moorings, and even when the red boards are out, seems to cope with aplomb.

The threat of lockkeepers partial extinction is wholly unnacceptable however, and call me selfish, but I'll fight to the death on this one...

Perhaps the tiny boat is something to do with it.... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I too had noted the lack of updated information on the majority of the RUG reference areas. 40 odd attendees at RUG6 and according to the minutes of the AGM no one says anything! but all is well because:

The great achievement of the year had been the implementation of the right-of-way and footpath under the road bridge and in front of the Ferry Inn.

In other areas, there had been setbacks.........

If there is a RUG at Oxford or above I would happily attend
