Left our home port in the Swale yesterday, all systems working.
Departed Queenborough at 5.45 this morning and no GPS on the AIS or plotter.
I have two tablets as backup - GPS working on both of those, so fine from a navigation point of view (plus it’s the Thames!).
However, any ideas why the plotter and AIS are failing to receive any satellite fix?
Plotter is Raymarine Axiom+ 12. No satellite fix on internal GPS.
AIS is Em-Trak b924. No satellite fix.
I have no external GPS antenna for any device, and have never needed one before. My B&G V60 VHF is mounted very near the AIS unit and is displaying LAT LONG from its internal GPS.
Engine is running as there’s very little breeze. Plenty of charge in the batteries as a result.
I will try an external antenna if I can pick one up in London, but in the meantime any ideas?
