I am worried about the kids, who a week or so ago wanted to rent a Laser, and had such good fun they went again the next day. Swmbo dropped them off with requisite 40 euros for 2 hours, and off they went round the bay in a F5 gusting 6. They arrived back to announce that surfing at 15knots+ was far more fun than a PWC (saves £6grand, hurrah) and this despite the mast coming off the crummy rental thing and them drifting out to sea for the last half an hour before being rescued.

Sadly, they had missed out on an exciting afternoon with me, when i discovered and fixed the wet saloon bilge problem - caused by a leaky float switch which failed to operate the bilge pump that should exhaust the condensate from the airconditioning fan coils.

Brilliant .. just you wait until they discover Hobie's. On the other hand you are the perfect size and height for a laser! We went here on our hols .. well recommended!

Re: losing touch with reality

Don't hurrah too soon. SBS is imminent and when they spy all those lovely dinghies, you'll do well to come away with two pico's, a trailer, and a few extras, this leave you only a few quid short of a PWC. Stilll it will be money well spent, and you will have other things to look forward to; all that fresh water sailing near home, lovely smelling wetsuits, midgey bites etc etc.

Have they read - Taking on the World yet?:))

Yes - I can see how dissappointed you must be feeling - to choose to go sailing a Laser when they could have been having such fun with the Old Man. Don't know what the answer is really - unless you want to go really radical and and start a whole new breeding programme - that should give you another 12 or 13 years when someone thinks you're the greatest Dad in the whole wild world?

Re: Keep schtum

Great racing in the RS fleets. What, when and where was the hairy 36 then? Was it the Island Packet Annual regatta?
