2011 jobslist is progressing well, all looks on target for a launch on the 4th in preparation for Fitting Up Supper.

Bilges now sparkly white rather than Essex mud brown with rust marks.
Carpentry and Oven fitting well under way,
Floorboard revarnish underway, have to sand them as Nitromors wont touch 2 pack.
Steps refurbished with 6 coats and new non slip treads.
Hull sparkly, topsides sparkly
New clipping in points in cockpit done, easywinch hardpoints done.
Stackpack off for new zip and mods for fully battened main, liferaft and EPIRB out for service.
VHF now ATIS enabled and reprograsmmed 37 & 80.
So, engine to do this weekend, and file/blend the Kiwiprop as I have dinged something solid again. Adding better insulation to the Webasto heating too.

Myriad of other little jobs to do, but progress is good, and I am really looking forward to the season.

After a weekend of being upside down in small dark confined spaces pulling cables into spaces that were not intended for them the ultrasonic antifouling kit is installed with the new solar panel which even on a dull Shotley afternoon was putting 2.5 Amps into the batteries:D So all that remains is next weekend cleaning and polishing followed by a lift and scrub which may or may not be done for the 9th. Will take pictures of the hull after 12 months with International Uno and the Hydrovane without any antifouling which now has a fair coat of weed on it:eek::o should have taken it off! Varnishing will have to wait.

I will have to add ultrasonic antifouling to my jobs list - it does sound exotic. I do hope it works.

Not wishing to put an end to a cheerful thread but I have to replace three frames and make good, rub down and undercoat and gloss the topsides, three coats of varnish, one coat of deck paint. All by 4th as well - but the 4th May! Oh and anti-foul.

They are pretty to look at though......

We're sticking to our plans despite not achieving much progress on the work program and will be in the water on the 2nd come what may!

Lots of jobs still to do but only the antifoul is an absolute must. We're struggling to make good progress with day trips to the boat at Woodbridge - the six plus hour round trip really cuts the time (and energy) available at the boat - so we're hoping we can get a lot more done once we can stop overnight on board (albeit with the risk of spending too much time ... and money ... in the pub)

The electrics are our biggest issue at the moment - half the electrical equipment doesn't work and the wiring is a shambles. There's unprotected choc block exposed on deck, loads of redundant wiring running through difficult to access places and further wiring run unsecured and unprotected through lockers etc. Could really do with ripping the whole lot out and starting again but that'd be a bit ambitious at this stage so for now it's a case of getting it all working and planning a complete rewire next winter

Can't wait to get out there and do some sailing - it'll make the massive dent in my bank balance worthwhile (I hope!) :)

Not wishing to bragg but it was quicker to put a new deck on my old wooden boat that a certain well known member of this parish! Actually, rub down and undercoat - one day. Gloss - half a day (now I use Epifanes - when I used Blakes/Hempel I used to gloss it on day 1, rub it all back day 2, try again day 3.....) Now the varnish - now that's another thing I admit.... And the rib: it is 19 years since it cracked. I just fancy doing it this year.

Hey Jim, having just got my VHF back from Standard Horizon, now with ATIS added to it, I'm curious about your comment about having reprogrammed 37 and 80. What's that about?

Dick,
my set came programmed, but with N1 and M1,M2. I was a little peeved that our standard use in UK was catered for so poorly, so I had SH do mine properly.
When I spin the dial now, it actually shows 37 in the correct sequence, and also 80, not some nomenclature that I have to remember or chinagraph on the instrument panel somewhere.
They did it for the same price including the ATIS,

Well, I ordered the extra length 60mm pipe for a better heads cupboard routing, and it slipped out about Thinsulate wrapping.
Next thing I know, its in a box winging its way to me. Very plush it is too. I have given myself a large extra job, as it is not wrap aorund, but slip over, so I will have to disconnect my heater ducting all over the boat just to get this stuff on. Its 25mm thicker.
I will have a load of aluminium and plastic bubble wrap which was coiled bound onto my system going free.

For the sake of my sanity, I will not divulge the cost of this outburst.

Hate to say it but we saw the Webasto insulation at a boat show and thought it would be great for us - especially as we have so many outlets and live on board.
However, at the price Webasto wanted for their tubes, I baulked. Seriously, they were having a laugh at around £10 to £15 per 75mm length depending on pipe diameter. I think it would have cost £300 plus to do all ours.
That said, it is actually just a 3M product made into a tube and printed with their name so I found out what part code it is made out of and ordered several metres from a 3M supplier off the 1.5m roll and wrapped the pipe sealing with that nice metallic tape used in factory ducting etc.
Net result - very much warmer at the last outlet and the others can also be closed a bit as the air is hotter further along, far colder things in the stowage where the pipes travel through and also in the bilges and voids.
As the recommendation is not to fully insulate everything, I left a length in the engine bay without insulation.
Oh, and it cost almost as much for the tape as the insulation!

Hmmm. I don't think I have ever needed to use 37 so wouldn't have noticed, and I'm pretty sure 80 shows as 80, so maybe they had sorted this by the time my set was supplied.
I have found that S-H down at Winchester are a very obliging bunch.
