This is a long shot, this guy surveyed our Mirage 28 in 1995, he was very efficient, don't know if he is still around. Ahead Yacht Surveys.

It would be for both purchase and insurance and yes the surveyor would need to be fair but very thorough.

Michael surveyed my Fairline last year after purchase excluding the engines which were done by AK Marine services at Dartside Quay.

Between both of them I got a massive wedge of information that enabled me to rightly or wrongly haggle the price down by about £25k

Slightly off your patch (but not much) I had a survey done by Iam Fagg of Ocean Marine Surveyors on a Rustler 36. Very thorough and detailed, but fair. Probably the best survey I have seen, and charges reasonable for the work involved. After 3 years of sailing I would say that he got it mostly right - no nasty surprises.

I would go out of my way to use him again.

Rob Feloy is excellent. He is based in Ashburton, which is not far away, but because he is so good, he is likely to be very booked up. Definitely worth a try though. He also knows all the local engineers and technicians, so will be able to recommend the best people for your specific needs if your boat needs any work done.
