Hey guys,

This is my first post here on the forum and I'm glad to see how active it is. I have been asked for a rough fuel consumption - and I'm wondering if any of you have had further experience than myself with similar specs that I will note below:

- Sunseeker Manhattan 74' (year 2000).
- Twin MAN 1200hp engines.

A rough off the top of my head guess of mine would be somewhere around 100/120 LPH per engine cruising at about 20kts, however I'm not sure if I'm overstating/understating it.

Any further guesstimates would be highly appreciated.

Thank for reading,
Soldan.

The skipper says that at 1800rpm the rate is 130l/hr, but the absolute rated WOT is 260.

Do you have the standard tankage or the extended ones for long distance ?

Based on 1/2 the engine a single bank of 6 compared to your 12 ( double 6) 1800 rpm gobbles approx 90 L / hr per side .
So 4x 90 = 360 L / hr as a starting point .
Perhaps knock a bit off if it’s a sweet smooth hull 320 /340
North of 2000rpm say 2150 ( I wouldn’t set them there btw ) then you’re in 4/500 L / hr territory.

My WOT is about 130 so 1/2 your 260 stated above.
Ours are 2005 with MDSS that shows amongst over things the L/hr .

Sweet spots somewhere between 1750 and 1850 rpm mine are slightly longer stroke so your sweet spot could be a tad higher say 1950 rpm so you are knocking on the door of north of 400L/hr

My Targa 64 running Cat C18 1015hp cruises at 22-24 knots at 105 to 115 L/h per engine. Wot is somewhere between 33 - 36 knots and consumes just over 200 L/h per engine :ambivalence:
So i think a bigger heavier 70ft mad hatter will be a bit higher.

My boat is a Ferretti 630 with MAN V12 1200hp engines which weighs around 40t. Here are the fuel consumption figures. The only difference between my boat and yours is that my engines are common rail injection whereas yours may not be but the consumption figures will not be hugely different

The consumption of my Canados 70 (loa 75ft, BUT 50Ton light !!) at 20kn is 15l/nm = 300l/hr,
but I found online that the displacement of the SS74 is below 40T, so you could expect figures similar to Deleted User's ferretti,
and your rough guess is exactly there.

consumption is all about weight and speed,
